How many Filipino caregivers are there in Japan?

To date, there are now 3,378 Filipino Nurse and Certified Careworker Candidates under this program since the first deployment in 2009. Details of future recruitment will be posted in the POEA/DMW website once the hiring period for the year begins.

As the demand for caregivers is in high demand in Japan, there are a plethora of job vacancies for those who want to work in the caregiving industry. According to an estimate by the Japanese healthcare ministry, the country will need 2.53 million care workers by 2025.


  • At least High School Graduate
  • With Caregiving NC II or Practical Nursing
  • Male and Female
  • 18 to 38 years old
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Hospital Set-Up or Nursing Homes
  • JLPT N4 or JFT Passer
  • Prometric Passer is an advantage.
  • Perform other tasks that will improve the patient’s well-being and safety.

What is the eligibility criteria for a caregiver in Japan?

During and After the Program: Qualification: ANM, GNM , BSC Nursing or any other Nursing / Paramedical Qualification ( Class 12 pass / Other Graduates can also apply with additional Care Giver Training) Language: Min N4 Japanese language proficiency. Experience: Minimum 1 year ( Preferred but not mandatory)
