Undergraduate Merit-Based Scholarships. USA-Canada-UK

Scholarship Description:

The scholarship is given based on financial need, with the requirement that applicants show they intend to participate fully in extracurricular activities and the Students Union.

Subject to satisfactory academic achievement, the scholarship is worth £9,000 per year for three years. Recipients may decide to use all or a portion of the award to pay for tuition. Any balance is given as a maintenance award to the student.

Denys Holland Scholarship at University College UK

The Denys Holland Scholarship is intended to help undergraduate students from any nation who, without it, would not be able to afford to attend UCL and who can show they intend to participate fully in all of the school’s and the student union’s activities.

The scholarship is given based on financial necessity, with the requirement that applicants show they intend to participate fully in UCL and the Students Union extracurricular activities.

Subject to satisfactory academic achievement, the scholarship is worth £9,000 per year for three years. Recipients may decide to use all or a portion of the award to pay for tuition. Any balance is given as a maintenance award to the student.

Montana State University merit-based scholarships USA.

The MSU Office of International Programs is proud to provide eligible international undergraduate applicants who have been granted full admission to Montana State University with merit-based scholarships. The only factor used to award these scholarships is the applicants’ grade point average. Students who are conditionally allowed to take intensive English sessions with INTERLINK International Institute are not eligible to receive the allotted money, which may only be used toward MSU tuition.

Scholarship Benefits:

Awards range from $5,000-$12,000 per year.

As long as the student maintains a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, remains enrolled full-time, and continues to attend as a non-resident student, the scholarship may be renewed each year.

Eligible Nationalities:

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria:

International students at MSU are automatically considered for scholarships after submitting their applications based on their grade point average (GPA) from high school or college studies. Scholarships are available to students who have been granted full admission to MSU and who have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale.

Chevening Award Scholarships UK

Chevening is the UK Government’s international awards program that aims to produce global leaders. Chevening, which is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organizations, offers two types of awards: Chevening Scholarships and Chevening Fellowships, the beneficiaries of which are chosen personally by British embassies and high commissions around the world.

To be eligible for a Chevening Award you must:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country
  • Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended
  • Have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK.
  • Have at least two years’ work experience (this may be up to five years for fellowship programmes, so please refer to your country page for further details)
  • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices
  • Meet the Chevening English language requirement

Gates Cambridge Scholarship UK

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation donated US$210 million to the University of Cambridge in October 2000, establishing the Gates Cambridge Scholarship program. Scholarships are given to outstanding students from countries other than the United Kingdom to study a full-time postgraduate degree in any field at the University of Cambridge. The following are the selection criteria:

  • outstanding intellectual ability
  • leadership potential
  • a commitment to improving the lives of others
  • a good fit between the applicant’s qualifications and aspirations and the postgraduate programme at Cambridge for which they are applying
